The GORE Sealant Tape
Developed by Gore over 40 years ago, the GORE Sealant Tape was the first sealing solution designed to be formed directly at the installation site. Engineered for large steel flanges, irregular or rectangular shapes, and rough or damaged surfaces, this tape has consistently proven its effectiveness over time. When compressed, its flexible and adaptable material creates a thin yet durable seal. It is also well-suited for applications with low bolt loads.
Due to its reliability and ease of use, the GORE Sealant Tape has become a standard material in many maintenance, repair, and operation (MRO) programs. Its installation is simple and cost-effective: just peel off the backing, place it on the surface, and overlap the ends.
(1) Suitable for processes with moderate thermal cycles, temperatures below 150°C, and pressures under 10 bar.
Why is the GORE Sealant Tape so versatile?
Advanced Expanded PTFE Technology
Made entirely from uniaxially expanded PTFE (ePTFE), this tape leverages Gore’s advanced technology to achieve a superior level of fibrillation. High fibrillation enhances the material’s strength and improves its sealing performance by providing an adaptable surface that conforms to flange imperfections.
Chemically inert, the GORE Sealant Tape is compatible with substances across the pH range of 0-14, except for molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine. This makes it suitable for systems handling aggressive chemicals such as alkalis, strong acids, or solvents.
Ease of Use and Cost Reduction
The GORE Sealant Tape can be adapted on-site to any flange shape, regardless of its size or complexity. It can be quickly secured and forms a reliable seal by overlapping its ends, enabling even a single person to handle vertical flanges.
Producing large gaskets directly on-site is fast and straightforward, eliminating the need for external manufacturing, specialized transportation, lifting equipment, or additional storage.
Thanks to its quick installation, the GORE Sealant Tape minimizes operational downtime. Furthermore, its durable sealing performance reduces maintenance requirements, boosting productivity and delivering significant savings in operational costs.
